Laptops4Learning is a non-governmental, not for profit organization established in 2010.
We work with public schools to provide the children with access to screen-based technologies and the requisite training on how to make effective use of them.
The aim is to bridge the gulf in ICT appreciation between the public school students and their counterparts in private schools and other countries.
This reality is made possible by cooperation with various stakeholders, the state government, SUBEB, education districts and most importantly, sponsors without whom this would not be possible.
Our Vision
Our vision is to ensure that primary school children are empowered with access to screen-based technology as a tool for social, economic and environmental growth and development.
Our overall goal is to help develop today’s Nigerian children with the appropriate skills, understanding and confidence in the application of this technology to become productive global citizens of tomorrow.
Our Impact
We presently have four purpose built computer clubhouses in the following locations: 1) Kuramo Primary School, Victoria Island 2) Government Junior College, Maroko, Ikoyi 3) Lagos Mainland Local Government Primary School, Ijero 4) Little Saints Orphanage, Ogudu.
In the last three years, over five hundred students have gone through the computer training programme organized by Laptops4Learning.
Clubhouse Activities
Every school term, L4L organizes a computer training programme in the schools using a comprehensive curriculum. Twenty new students are trained once a week in 2 hour sessions for 8 weeks during each term. This is to ensure that we give as many children as possible the opportunity to access screen based technology. The training is carried out by our technical team, educate.ng with the supervision of the Laptops4Learning (L4L) staff and volunteers. The sessions are always very interactive and impactful. The students are always eager to attend the weekly training sessions and it has encouraged them to use the clubhouse often for assignments and other activities outside the training period.
Computer Summer Club
Our computer summer club usually comes up in July/August in two of our clubhouses (Ijero & Kuramo) and proudly sponsored by Leventis Foundation and Flour Mills. The summer programme runs for two weeks in each clubhouse.
